At just 20 years old, and now signed to Roc Nation – newcomer Arlissa has unveiled the video for her debut solo single, ‘Sticks & Stones’.
This follows on from an incredible end to 2012, with Arlissa landing a place on the BBC’s prestigious Sound of 2013 list and not forgetting a collaboration with rap supreme Nas.
Serving as an official introduction to her highly anticipated debut album, the London songstress says that it was important for her to craft her own individual sound.
“I was listening to a lot of Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush and Crystal Fighters – it had to feel really earthy, ethnic and organic. I didn’t want to sound like anyone else on the radio,” say Arlissa.
‘Sticks & Stones’ was first premiered on Top of the Pops’ New Year’s Special and here at Flavour we are chuffed to be backing, the fine talent which this young starlet entails. Arlissa plays Black Cab Sessions Presents…at Notting Hill Arts Club on January 31, ahead of the release of ‘Sticks & Stones’ on March 3.
