Rita Ora has secured seven nominations for the European Urban Music Awards today as voting were opened to the public for the 10th anniversary of the awards show.
The Roc Nation protege is up for Best Newcomer, Artist of The Year, Best International Artist, Best Music Video for ‘R.I.P.’, Best Single for ‘Hot Right Now’, and Best Album for her debut release.
The soulful songbird Emeli Sandé and singer Eva Simons follows behind with five nods. Speaking of her nominations for Best Newcomer, Best Female Act, Artist of the Year, Best RnB Act and Best Single, Eva said: “I am thrilled to be nominated and thanks to all the fans for nominating me.”
In the heartthrob category, JLS – who were involved with the awards, before finding fame on The X Factor – are ‘very excited’ to be up for three prizes.
They go up against girl group Stooshe, Rizzle Kicks, Clement Marfo & the Frontline, Krept & Konan and Magnetic Man for Best Group.
Other nominees also include 18-year old Conor Maynard, with two in the bag for Best Newcomer and Best Collaboration for his single ‘Turn Around’, featuring Ne-Yo.
And there will be no shortage of drama among the artists who’ll be battling it out for prizes as Rihanna and Chris Brown will go head to head in the Best International Artist category.
For the tenth year, winners will be decided by online voting, which is now open. This year’s awards, will take place on December 1. www.urbanmusicawards.net
