On June 19, Flavour magazine had the privilege of being taken over on twitter by none other than Noel Clarke, actor and writer of films such as Kidulthood, Adulthood and most recently Storage 24 and Fast Girls. It was up to you to ask the questions, here’s what he had to say…
@CMyPassion asked: What’s been your biggest challenge to date?
Being a brother, an trying to break the mold of just swinging a bat in a film and to do something different.
@yohanluke asked: If you could act alongside any actor/actress dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Sydney Poitier and Marilyn Monroe.
@CleoPearson asked: What inspired you to do Fast Girls, considering it’s pretty different from the genre of your other work?
The producer asked me to write it so I did. I wanted girls to be the heroes without men saving them.
@MsVanessaS asked: How do u feel about the underepresentation of black male leads in British TV despite your success, Idris, Ashley?
It’s not good. I feel like its changing though and the roles are changing too, so hopefully we keep progressing.
‘Stay focussed and keep learning your craft. Never get too big to do lessons.’
@TinaxFlavour asked: if you could work with any Actor/Actress, who would it be and why?
You maybe ; ) Fassbender maybe.
@leonardfoster asked: What’s your new film like?
It’s good. Ambitious. No one is making alien films like this in the UK, support the cause man.
@Mister2Drink asked: What would be ur dream cast for a film?
Man, Halle Berry, Samuel L Jackson, Philip Seymour, Hoffman, Idris too many too mention. I like new faces as well.
Stay focussed and keep learning your craft. Never get too big to do lessons.
@ICandy_Studios asked: Hey Noel! Who is your biggest inspiration in the acting world?
I don’t know really, I like a lot of actors, too many too mention. Directing wise: Spike, JJ, Tarantino etc.
@annikaallen asked: What’s been your favourite movie to work on?
Probably Star Trek or @storage24Movie out June 29th.
@mickwwarwick asked: Noel, I’m a fan of all of your films, do you have any advice for young creatives trying to make waves in the industry?
Yes. Stay focussed and always finish your scripts. Also always have more scripts ready than you need.
