Since 2001 grime has been heralded for bringing through talented new MCs and rappers, DJs and producers. It’s grounding in Britain’s youth and its on-going social commentary has established the genre as a new-age hip-hop, born out of jungle and garage, that has launched the careers of chart-topping artists Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Tinchy Stryder, Kano, Tinie Tempah, Chipmunk and Roll Deep. The grime genre has come a very long way from its humble beginnings on pirate radio stations; it has become a breeding ground of talent and the foundation for some of the most well-known and successful music artists in the UK today.
