The Inaugural Sundance London Film Festival is fast approaching and as the event all movies lovers have been waiting for, many can hardly wait. Taking place from 26th – 29th April, this four-day film and music festival includes film screenings, premieres, live music performances, discussions. Held at London’s prestigious O2, Sundance London Film Festival will be held within the Cineworld cinema.
Sundance London Film Festival comes from the Sundance Institute, a non-profit organization devoted to the discovery and development of independent artists and their work. Originally founded by Robert Redford in the mountains of Sundance, Utah, the Institute seeks to discover, support, and inspire independent film and theatre artists from around the world. Committing to its mission, it provides year-round creative and financial support for the growth of original stories fit for the screen and stage. Firmly dedicated to its cause, Sundance aims to discover and develop independent artists through its ongoing programs and introduce audiences to their creative new work. Giving artists a place to explore their stories freely, Sundance is constantly dedicated to independent artists and audiences across the globe.
This year’s the London Festival includes some great thought provoking films that hold true to the nature of Sundance and what is represents. Since 1981 Sundance has always hosted a wide range of independent short, feature length and documentary films and this year is no different as there are many exceptional movies to see, such as:
FILLY BROWN – A Hip Hop-driven drama about a Mexican girl who rises to fame and consciousness as she copes with the incarceration of her mother through music. The Cast features: Lou Diamond Phillips, Gina Rodriguez, Jenni Rivera and Edward James Olmos.
LUV – An orphaned 11-year-old boy is forced to face the unpleasant truth about his beloved uncle during one harrowing day in the streets of Baltimore. LUV is a fictional story based on a true relationship with Sheldon and his uncle. The Cast features: Common, Michael Rainey Jr., Dennis Haysbert, Danny Glover and Charles S. Dutton.
There are much more films to look out for between the four day event, and just from the previews the film and music festival is sure to not disappoint.
