If you want to be rich and successful in life you cannot do what everyone else is doing you have to make yourself stand out from the crowd, but how can you do this? The most important thing is to be yourself.
Do you, not anybody else. Think about what the best assets and skills are that you possess and see if you can make a career or your own business out of doing what you are passionate about. Here are some other helpful tips.
Be Creative – Following a trend doesn’t make you different, creating a trend does. Don’t be scared to break down barriers or push boundaries regardless of what other people think or say. People expect the expected of you. Why not do the unexpected.
Knowledge is power – Think about the things that you love to do and what you know a lot about. Take the things that come naturally and use them to get what you want.
The power of humour – Humour shows creativity, intelligence and personality. The people who count always give points for wit and it’s natural to be instantly attracted to the funny man or woman and guaranteed you will remember them.
Be a Leader – When that person strolls through the door of a party with a swagger that attracts all eyes to them. Or he or she commands your attention in a board room meeting or isn’t afraid to say no when everybody else says yes. That person isn’t following the crowd. They are leading from the front. Set yourself apart from the rest by being a leader and don’t let yourself go unnoticed.
Follow up with people – Make it a habit to follow-up with people promptly. If people leave you a voicemail or an email get into the practice of responding to them as soon as possible as it is bad manners and bad business not too.
Show, don’t tell – It’s not enough to just talk the talk letting the world know you are going to do something. Show them, don’t tell them. Unless people are involved in your venture wait until you unveil your plans to tell them.
Be a good listener – Self improvement lecturer and writer Dale Carnegie once said: “To be interesting to other people, you have to be interested in them first”, so make sure that you give people your full attention when speaking to them. Be interested in what they have to say instead of just waiting for that moment where you can jump in with your own agenda to get what you want straight away.
Don’t hang out with losers – Have you heard the saying: ‘Show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are?’ Meaning if you’re hanging out with losers thenyou maybe one too. Change your social circle, mix with people that will inspire, encourage and uplift you. If your friends are successful don’t be jealous of their success. Shout about it.
Feed your mind – Read a book maybe an autobiography of someone you admire or a business book, surf the net to do research and watch others who are brilliant in your field and borrow the best bits from each one. Invest time in your personal and professional development and listen to tapes and the words of wisdom from the experts in the fields and areas of your life that you want to improve.
