Dubbed the ‘Community Oscars’, the Spirit Of London awards was initially created by the Damilola Taylor Trust searching to find youngsters in London doing outstanding things in their community.
The awards – now in it’s fourth year launched in 2009 following the murder of ten-year-old Damilola. Spirit of London have a host of well-known supporters including, Rio Ferdinand, who said: “The young people of London represent it’s future.”
He also added: “I am proud to support anything that focuses positively on the unsung heroes of my home city.” The awards, which takes place on Monday (Dec 10) is set to be a spectacular night celebrating young Londoners, with a star studded line up of music acts set to perform, including McFly, Labrinth, Stooshe, Maverick Sabre, Noisettes and more.
Here are the shortlisted unsung heroes who have been nominated in the Spirit of London Awards.
The Community champions category highlights young people who strive through their endeavors and make their mark on their local community.

For the second year running, Spirit of London will once again be recognising fashion in it’s own right.
The business category rewards either an individual or a group of young people who have contributed to their local community with a business enterprise that brings inspiration and benefits to others.
This award will honour one of the above individual for their work in revivifying their local community.
This award will reward and celebrate how young people have inspired change for other young people across the UK.
This category distinguishes youngsters who surpass themselves against the odds or who use sport to help others in their community.
The Young Heroes Award identifies special kids whose special deeds have made a difference to their local community.
Winners will be announced at the Spirit Of London Awards ceremony on the 10th Dec 2012
