First off, for those of you who don’t know what Sneakerpedia is, it’s an online footwear archive where people can upload pics of their favourite sneakers and view what other people consider to be the hottest kicks around! FYI, 13,880 trainer buffs from 146 different nationalities have already contributed over 20,524 pics to the Wiki page. These are crazy stats but it’s no wonder why people love the site so much!
Sneakerpedia gets members more involved with its ‘Crate Of The Month’ prize draws where they are asked to submit their sneakers to match a particular theme (i.e. air force ones, blazers etc) It has been a huge hit with people winning kicks, footlocker gift cards and exclusive Sneakerpedia t-shirts. However, something even bigger has happened! ‘Crate of the Year’ has now been launched to celebrate the sites two-year success and entrants have been asked to bring everything they have to the table. Retro, vintage, one-off rarities and forgotten classics as well as the story behind the sneakers will all help make one lucky person the winner.
Unlike ‘Crate of the Month’, this one off competition will be judged by the Sneakerpedia community instead of specific sneaker heavyweights. And, the prize will literally blow your mind. The winner and a pal will be flown to NYC and given a guided tour by DJ and filmmaker Bobbito Garcia. They will be taken around Harlem and other communities that embrace the sneaker way of life and given $1000 to spend at House of Hoops. So what are you waiting for? The competition opens June 5th and closes July 5th with the winner being chosen on July 8th. Enter here to try your luck!
