Fed up of the temperamental British weather? Then why not embark on a Romantic Couples Getaway in Marbella?
We did exactly that and decided to ditch the low 14 degrees wet and rainy weather in the UK and opt for the sun-drenched 31 degrees in Marbella.
One of the greatest things, in my opinion about Marbella is the distance from the UK, jump on any flight to Marbella and you will arrive in the sun within two and a half hours, meaning you’re not cooped up on a plane and left with a stiff neck or back ache after the flight.
Simply log on to a website like tripadvisor and search for flights to Marbella, and you’ll be surprised how inexpensive it is to travel to Marbella.
We spent a romantic couple of nights at the 4 star Iberostar Coral Beach Hotel in Marbella. Iberostar Coral Beach Hotel is located within a 10 min walk (20 mins if you are walking at a leisurely holiday pace like we did) of the trendy and popular Puerto Banus.
Iberostar Coral Beach Hotel Marbella
On arrival at the Iberostar Coral Beach Hotel Marbella, you’ll be greeted by friendly staff and check-in is quick an efficient.
The Iberostar Coral Beach Hotel Marbella is a medium sized resort style hotel. Built in a semi-circular design with the centre-piece of the hotel being the pool and sun lounging area. Dotted around the pool area you will see ponds with Koi-Carpe and Turtles, sun-loungers and holiday makers getting into the holiday spirit as they chill in the sun while drinking their favourite cocktails.
We stayed in was a double room on the 2nd floor of the resort and our room faced the pool area, which is a nice touch, when you wake up in the morning and venture onto your balcony. The semi circular design of hotel means that half of the rooms face the pool and half face the outskirts. The rooms as nice in size, very clean and all-white. The hotel is all-white and most of the furnishing at all-white, giving a fresh, clean and airy feel to the hotel.
With our half-board stay we enjoyed the full buffet breakfast at the Alhambra Buffet which also included lots and lots of Cava, so if you like a bit of bubbly with your holiday breakfast then the Iberostar Coral Beach Hotel is perfect. Dinner time was also fun, the restaurant layout is intimate without being to packed. Food is of good quality and we found the other guests to be really nice and friendly. Themed buffets including Spanish, Mexican, Asian, seafood with live show cooking means you get to sample a good variety of dishes during your stay.
For something a little more upmarket (remember we are in Marbella) then simply walk past the pool area, through the gates and 30 secs along the road and you will arrive at the Iberostar Coral Beach Seasoul Restaurant and Beach Club. The Seasoul Restaurant faces the sea and offers a choice of seafood and Mediterranean food. We also received 2 vouchers to enjoy 2 Kir Royale’s at the seasoul, which was the perfect introduction to the restaurant.
The Seasoul Restaurant is perfect for date night with your partner, you can dress up, dine, drink, relax all while watching the sun set along the sea.
As Iberostar Coral Beach Hotel Marbella is located only minutes away from Puerto Banus, it’s the perfect location for a chilled, relaxed, romantic couples getaway and then if you fancy a bit of hype, you can simply stroll along the beach to Puerto Banus for its nightlife, restaurants, bars and its shopping district.

Puerto Banus
Puerto Banus has a range of high end fashion stores, we was surprised at the amount of designer stores in this small town. Agent Provocateur Marbella (perfect for a romantic couples getaway), Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Guess and many more stores all in attendance in the Puerto Banus shopping strip.
Continue walking along the strip and you will soon end up at the yacht bay. The yacht is that dreamy place, where you look in awe and wonder what the high life is all about and how would if feel to own a yacht and sail the seas. All of this while you are your partner lick the many flavours of Gelato Ice Cream stores they have dotted around the streets.
After we shopped, we had to eat, and our restaurant of choice on this day was the La Pesquera de Banus. Grilled Sardines, Paella, red wine and a Fanta Limon to quench our thirst, giving us the Spanish experience we was looking for.
Plaza Beach
Another place to visit is the Plaza Beach Club Marbella which is admittedly not as well known as the Ocean Club Marbella, yet just as good. Hot tubs, sun loungers, deck chairs, food, drinks and even massages, Plaza Beach Club is a must visit when in Puerto Banus.
Directly facing the sea, the Plaza Beach Club is a great place to relax in the daytime while sipping cocktails and sunbathing. Ride the waves in the cove of the sea, then order yourself a glass or 3 of Prosecco along with a duck or chicken wrap (very tasty to eat on the beach), then be sure to get yourself a Chinese massage and you will have that blissful feeling in moments.
In the evening and night the venue turns in a real club land beach club, Sin Sundays, Kisstory and Aces Marbella turns this place into a waves of foam parties and funtimes. Here’s a few images from their facebook page:
And Finally
We decided to take a late flight back to the UK, this meant we could spend the whole day in Malaga. We walked through the city, along the Marina while stopping off for seafood and drinks along and then ended up spending the whole day on the Playa de la Malagueta beach. Perfection!
