We recently embarked on a trip of a lifetime to Las Vegas for a romantic couples getaway.
The moment you start mentioning words like ‘romantic couples getaway’ and ‘Las Vegas’ in the same sentence, people will start to ask, “Are you getting married?” or “Are you getting engaged?”. When you say, “No it’s just a holiday” they’ll probably reply with something along the lines of, “lots of people get married and engaged in Las Vegas, you never know what will happen while you are out there”.
Then they will probably start quoting scenes from the Hangover Movie and start telling you about all the other people they know who have got married or engaged in Las Vegas.
To be fair, although we weren’t planning on getting engaged or married in Vegas, our trip was so romantic and spectacular, we could have easily eloped while we were there.
This feature however is about the best things to do and see in Las Vegas. Places to dine and shop, the casinos, the hotels, spa and saunas and all the other things that come with the excessive Las Vegas lifestyle.
We spent 7 nights basking in the ambience of the beautiful Las Vegas weather. As we arrived in February, it wasn’t as hot as mid-summer, however, it was hot enough to walk freely in a T-Shirt during the day, as this month had record-breaking hot weather at the time of our trip.
The first thing we noticed about Las Vegas was how grand everything is, the buildings, the cars, the venues, the casinos, everything is BIG and EXCESSIVE in Las Las Vegas. It’s the kind of place that can lead bankruptcy within a few days if you are not careful.
We stayed at a range of hotels during our trip. Our favourite of them all was the Vdara Hotel and we can easily give you more than 10 reasons to stay at the Vdara Hotel. Other hotels on our journey were the Palms Casino Hotel, the Silverton Hotel and the Linq Hotel.
One of the things we love most about Las Vegas is the fact that there is ALWAYS SOMETHING TO DO OR SEE during your stay. We visited shows, theatres, restaurants, spas and even the 702 gun range for a bit of Call of Duty style shooting.
The Shows
Mariah Carey
With our itinerary stacked from start to finish, we manage to see the one and only Mariah Carey live at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace thanks to AEGLIVE.com. Mariah’s concert was dreamy, singing all the classic Number One hits from her 18 timeless and beloved songs together in one concert.
Las Vegas concerts are totally different to UK concerts. The Vegas venues are built for this stuff. From floor to ceiling, staging and seating, everything is set in its place, ready to host you for the evening. The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is a great place to visit. Every seat within the venue feels like a good seat. If you are in Vegas when Mariah Carey is in concert, YOU MUST see her.
Jennifer Lopez
JLO’s concert at the Axis in Planet Hollywood is another concert not to be missed. JLO’s energy and vibe on stage are stupendous. Her outfits will blow you away, her dance moves and sexy performances will leave you gagging for more, her classic, easy to sing-a-long to songs will have you bouncing and singing in your seat.
The Axis in Planet Hollywood is another venue where every seat is a good seat. Of course, you can buy a seat right in front of the stage, but this venue is an intimate showcase style venue, meaning no matter where you seat, you will have a good view of JLO’s ass-sets on stage.
Le Rêve – The Dream
Le Rêve – The Dream at the Wynn Las Vegas left us lost for words. We have never witnessed such a spectacle in a theatre before. Picture this: a circular style theatre that hosts a humungous 1.1 million gallon diving pool, complete with moveable and evolving stage, that can disappear beneath the water and raise high up to the ceiling in many different forms.
Le Rêve – The Dream is utterly breathtaking and witnessing the performers, diving from the ceiling during their aerial feats showcasing their stunning strength, agility and sex appeal, left us in awe. We loved JLo and loved Mariah, but Le Rêve – The Dream is surreal.
Cirque de Soleil – Zumanity
The sexier side of Cirque de Soleil is Zumanity. Zumanity held at the New York, New York hotel and casino is a slightly kinkier type of show. We were particularly impressed by the Water Bowl scene… a first taste of love for two innocents whose plunge into pure water and unleashes their sensual selves.
The Water Bowl scene is a mermaid like spectacular. The 2 performers are a mix of swimmers, acrobats and contortionists. The way the slip and slide in the Water Bowl are totally awe-inspiring, the smoothness and elegance of there performance will have you starring in awe.
Zumanity is a seductive twist on reality, making the provocative playful and the forbidden electrifying! Leave inhibitions at the door, let loose and marvel in a sexy thrill ride full of sensational acrobatics and naughty fun. Part burlesque and part cabaret, Zumanity is one full night you’ll never forget! Created for adults 18 and over.
X Burlesque – Flamingo Casino Hotel
We must admit, we were a tad disappointed with the X Burlesque show, the huge flashing billboards promoting this show, gave us really high hopes… However, you need to think of this as one of the smaller, cheekier style shows. The kind of show to go and see and one of your more laid back night in Vegas. You’ll probably want to see this type of show before you see the likes of Zumanity and Le Reve – The Dream.
X Burlesque is a very small intimate showcase of sexy dance performers. We would still suggest seeing this show, but as mentioned earlier, you’ll probably benefit from seeing this show at the earlier stage of your visit to Las Vegas as the rest of the shows on your trip will we only get better. There isn’t anything new or uber exciting about this show that you probably haven’t seen before. The show is very sexy, very titillating and very tantalising in a very dark setting. Think of a Suicide Girls meets Rhianna in a burlesque music video and you will see X-Burlesque.
The music of X-Burlesque features some of the hottest artists of today: The Muse, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, and Christina Aguilera to name a few… The music is right on the pulse of what is happening with today’s music. Driving, sexy, sensual. These are just a few of the words that describe the soundtrack to X-Burlesque.
Last but not least was the V The Ultimate Variety Show.
Similar in venue size to the X-Burlesque show, V The Ultimate Variety Show is a very small, intimate, comical yet fun and exciting show to watch.
The host of the show Wally Eastwood (the worlds fastest juggler) will have you entertained as well as laughing out loud throughout the show. Wally is a circus performer with mad skills. He can play a floor piano using balls, and not only play but play it properly. You can see that he is a master of his craft and you will develop an attachment to him as soon as he gets started.
At the Variety show, you’ll get to experience over 14 of the best acts ever to perform on a Vegas stage such as; The Crazy Gaucho’s, Melinda: The First Lady of Magic, Prop Comedian Russ Merlin, the Skating Aratas (jaw-dropping performers), and much more.
