Man oh man, I do love Canary Wharf. Some of my friends say, it’s too built up, but for me, that’s the whole beauty of Canary Wharf.
Huge buildings, tonnes and tonnes of glass and architecture, plus a large range of places to eat, drink, stay and be entertained.
One of these places to stay, is, the London Marriott Hotel located in the West India Quay area of Canary Wharf. This 5-star hotel is great for business and pleasure and is easily accessible from anywhere in Canary Wharf.
London Marriott Hotel West India Quay is literally 1 minute away from West India Quay DLR station, 5 minutes away from the Museum of London Docklands and 1 minute away from the Cineworld cinema West India Quay.
The London Marriott Hotel West India Quay is one of those huge glass buildings mentioned earlier that towers into the sky. Upon arrival, you’ll see white stairs going upward, leading to the reception with locally sourced art displayed on the wall, which is also available to purchase (supporting local artists… tick).
On my arrival, there was a small queue gathering at the reception as an influx of customers, had all arrived at the same time. However, that was the same moment the hospitality kicked in. ‘Hello sir, please feel free to take a seat here and allow me to bring you a welcome drink of your choice while you wait’. That was the voice of the staff attending to my needs and allowing me to relax while I waiting to check-in. It’s the little things that make us feel special and the Marriott hotel has 5-star hospitality flowing through its veins.
The Rooms
The London Marriott Hotel West India Quay has 301 rooms available to stay spanning over eight floors of this 32-storey building.
Ask for a room with a water view rather than the city view, as the surrounding area is under constant development as you’ll probably prefer the relaxed water view in comparison to the crane-laden city view. Plus the water view looks magical at night when all the city lights turn on and start to sparkle. You can also see more London Marriott Hotel images on booking.com
The styling of the rooms is clean and minimal with relaxed, albeit, slightly corporate feel. The dark brown wood and pale creams give off a very neutral feeling which should suit almost all tastes.
The Manhattan Grill
Let’s talk about food, let’s talk about hotel food, which you’ll either love or loathe depending on the hotel. The London Marriott Hotel has the Manhattan Grill which offers a vast range of dining options during your stay.
Think of the Manhattan Grill as a stand-alone restaurant within this hotel as their delightful menu far surpasses most chain based hotel food.
The Manhattan Grill is the type of place you’ll want to dine in, even if you weren’t staying a the hotel. This steak based restaurant showcases juicy prime cuts of meat, plus pescatarian and vegetarian dishes too. Take a look at the menu here.
We sampled a range of dishes above, all photos were taken on my mobile phone under the ambient lighting off the restaurant. Just imagine what the dishes looked like in reality.
The Manhattan Grill is where you will be served your breakfast too. All of the usual suspects are available, full English breakfasts, eggs and omlette’s made to order, cereals, yoghurts, fruits, cheeses and salami’s along with a range of fresh juices, coffees and teas.
Overall
You’ll be hard-pressed to find anything to complain about in this hotel. Great hospitality, pleasant and helpful staff, delicious non-standard hotel food at the Manhattan Grill and I even received a bottle of Malbec and macaron’s in my room on arrival. There’s also a fitness centre on the lower ground floor, perfect for working up a sweat in the morning, before you shower and start your day.
Book yourself at the stay on the weekend, visit the Canary Wharf shopping centre, watch a movie at the Everyman Cinema, take a stroll in the evening and see the evening lights come to life… You can easily make your stay at the London Marriot Hotel quite magical.

I’m now left having to answer this very hard question: Which Marriott Hotel should I visit next?
