A minutes walk from Imperial Wharf overground station within the picturesque Chelsea Harbour lies the Blue Harbour Health Club & Spa. The spa is part of the Chelsea Harbour Hotel which boasts the title of being the only five star all-suite hotel in London. The Health Club & Spa is home to a stunning 17 meter swimming pool, a state of the art gymnasium, sauna, steam-room and relaxation suite.

MarinaRecently, Flavour Mag headed to the Spa to try out the awesome Couples Experience package. Approaching the hotel walking past a plethora of luxurious boats on a pleasant Saturday in the capital you soon realise that you are set for a day of sheer luxury and relaxation. We were greeted by a smiling receptionist who requested we fill in a health questionnaire in the pleasant lobby over-looking the harbour.

After handing in our completed forms we were led to the the changing rooms and told a bit about the Spa and it’s facilities. Everyone who visits the Spa is provided with robes, slippers and towels. The changing rooms are spacious, clean and come with all the essentials that you would expect at a 5 star spa. Once we were both in our robes and ready we were led upstairs to a beautiful relaxation room where the unwinding really began! Gentle music, soft lighting and snug chairs set the scene as we were told to relax and enjoy the lemon water and fruit teas which are provided inclusive of the package.

BlueHarbourSpa_127046cThe 15/20 minutes spent in this room ensure you go into the treatment room relaxed and boy does it work; so much so that I could have easily stayed there and event felt myself ready to drift off. As part of the couples package you receive 2 60 minute treatments each each as well as use of the whole Spa for the entire day.

Two massage beds were prepared side by side in a cosy room which was softly lit with scented candles. For many people the idea of a massage can become daunting when asked to remove the robe, but the staff at the Blue Harbour Health Club & Spa ensure this is not a problem. They adopt a dignified approach where they allow you time alone in the treatment room to get comfortable before they re-enter, then the half of the body which is not receiving any attention is always covered with a blanket.

Pic1I was having a De-stress Muscle Massage; a stress relieving massage concentrating on tense and tired muscles with stretching and deep tissue massage. My guest had an Aromatherapy Massage; a full-body treatment which incorporates the powerful properties of aromatherapy oils gently combined with massage techniques to relax, revive and rejuvenate. The skill and the professionalism of the masseuses made the experience perfect -they worked synchronised in practical silence, only talking occasionally to check everything was OK with our treatments. Another nice touch was when we was both asked if we would like our stomachs massaged, again a tactful approach to dealing with customers who are particularly self-concious.

800-800-0-0-tn-183_513dc0aecb57eAfter our 60 minute treatment the masseuses ensured our relaxed mood remained, there was no lights on or conversation when they were finished, just a gentle ‘please relax and get re-dressed in your own time’ as they quietly made their exits. That was the last we saw of the two talented masseuses – we were then free to explore the rest of the spas incredible facilities at our own leisure. We made our way to the stunning pool where we relaxed and had a dip for the remaining few hours of our stay. We left feeling incredibly relaxed; my partner suggested it was her best massage in the UK yet. As we jumped back on our train it was easy to forget we were still in one of the busiest cities in the world.

I couldn’t recommend the Blue Harbour Health Club & Spa more – in a city that is always going a hundred miles an hour tranquil gems such as this are a rarity.

The Couples Experience at the Blue Harbour Club & Spa is £210 for the day.
