The nationwide search to find the new king of Beatbox came to a head on Friday night (25th June) at London’s O2 Islington Academy, where the last rounds of the Vauxhall UK Beatbox Championship 2010 grand final took place.
At the most competitive final in Vauxhall UK Beatbox history, more than 500 people flocked to watch, as twelve beatboxers from across the country competed for the most prestigious title in beatboxing.
Beatbox legends and final judges, TyTe and MC Zani (2008-winner), kick-started the champs with a showcase showing off their vocal artistry which raised the roof. The third judge of the final, Bellatrix (World female Beatbox Champion), treated the crowds to an exclusive live performance with her all-female group, The Boxettes, who went down a storm.
After a jaw-dropping final, Reeps One became the proud owner of the grandest of grand prizes – a spanking new Vauxhall Corsa SXi – which comes complete with air conditioning, Bluetooth technology (for mobile phones), metallic paint and meaty 17″ alloys. There is no doubt that having secured the title and keys to a Corsa SXI, Reeps One is destined for big things.
Archangel, organiser of the Vauxhall UK Beatbox Championships:
“This year’s grand final was absolutely crazy. The new free-flowing battle format kept the energy on a constant high, and the atmosphere was incredible. Not to mention the competitors, who all really brought their A-game. We also saw them display much more in-your-face battle tactics which really ramped up the entertainment as they forced each other to do better. Brilliant!”
