Unapologetically feminine, Australian rapper Fresh Violet returns with thirsty new bubblegum visuals for her single ‘Left Right’ featuring Vida Sunshyne which we are excited to premiere on Flavour Mag today.
Filmed by Stackhat, the rising hip hop diva and DIY Queen Fresh Violet continues to showcase her ability to flip stereotypes on their head and take control with the video doing just that, further cementing her place in the hip hop scene.
On the video, Fresh Violet said, “This song is about the feeling of crushing on someone. We purposely created imagery where I’m in control and have agency over each situation and the men get a turn being the object of desire,”
“At the time my album was finished but not yet released. I sent Stackhat ‘Left Right’ and explained the concept and he loved the vibe. The direction I gave him was “Thirsty, but make it art”. It was shot at Bondi Beach and Inner West Sydney and we put a lot of thought into flipping the script of the typical hip hop film clip and making it empowering and fun,”
Based in Melbourne, Fresh Violet has forged many close relationships with artists over the years. Fresh Violet is no stranger to the music scene, she’s currently on tour with Butterfingers. The rapper has overcome the odds to establish herself as one to watch in Australia’s hip hop community. Her album starts on a high before delving into the extreme rage and sadness she went through as she recovered from broken relationships and homelessness. Violet then takes her listeners on a journey of healing, ending on a positive note with ‘Breakfast’ and the resilient anthem ‘Bubblegum’.
