02 today unveiled a multi-platform launch gig with Plan B, which will be live-streamed across London on August 29. The rapper/actor will perform exclusive material at the iconic London music venue, O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire to celebrate O2’s 4G switch on. In a first for the UK, the internet and telephone supplier will stream its event live to three central London digital media locations; Kings Cross Station, Victoria Station and The Wall at Westfield Shepherd’s Bush.
“I’m looking forward to playing at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire,” said Plan B. “I first played there in 2007 and this unique gig promises to be even bigger and better.” Plan B will take to the stage at 8pm to an audience of 2,000 people at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and crowds at the live streamed locations. Audiences at Kings Cross and Victoria Stations will be given O2 headphones to enjoy the gig as a live-streamed silent disco.
Throughout the day, O2 4G Angels will be demoing 4G at each of the three locations, bringing to life brilliant entertainment on the move at a local level. Buskers will play songs on demand at specially constructed O2 4G stages, responding to #O24G Twitter requests. Central London O2 stores will celebrate the 4G launch throughout the day, with treats for customers and exclusive Plan B content broadcast in store. Selected stores will open late to coincide with the live gig.
For those not in London, the gig will be hosted live on YouTube via O2 Academy TV. It will also be available to watch across O2’s social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook and on www.o2.co.uk.
