Pirelli Calendar 2016 has done something quite unique for its 2016 release. Instead of using the sexy models and saucy nudity we are used to.
This time they have opted for people like comedian Amy Schumer, tennis star Serena Williams, singer Patti Smith and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Yao Chen.
It what seems like a complete shift from its usual images of naked models like Gigi Hadid and Candice Huffine, the Pirelli Calendar 2016 will also include model Natalia Vodianova, director Ava DuVernay, style star Tavi Gevinson and more.
Amy Schumer, who stars as December and is pictured wearing nothing but panties and heels, drinking from a Starbucks cup. Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, Leibovitz proposed on the spot thatAmy Schumer pose nude ironically, as if she didn’t get the memo that everyone else was clothed. Leibovitz explained, “She got the whole concept completely. She’s so bright. She was willing to play that role. I was worried for her; I said, ‘Are you self-conscious?’ [Amy] said, ‘Are you kidding? I love my body.'”
Amy then tweeted a powerful, poignant reaction to the image:
