The House of Suntory has today announced the launch of a Japanese-inspired immersive gin garden on the OXO Tower Bar Terrace.
Discerning drinkers will have the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive range of Roku gin cocktails overlooking the South Bank from Thursday 5 July until Thursday 30 August.
What’s more, Japanese-inspired bar snacks that complement each drink have been specifically designed to enhance the flavours.
The garden installation will transport Londoners to the serene heart of Osaka, amidst a range of bespoke terrariums and a foliage wall displaying the six botanicals found within the gin. As the heady aromas of sakura flower, sakura leaf, yuzu peel, sencha tea, gyokuro tea and sansho pepper fill the air, the stunning views and atmosphere are enriched to create a perfect oasis of calm in which to enjoy a drink in the heart of the city.
Taking inspiration from the liquid, the painstaking craftsmanship of the House of Suntory’s artisan distillers and the name Roku – which means ‘six’ in Japanese – a range of six cocktails have been exclusively created in partnership with Paulius Patumsis, Bar Manager at OXO Tower Restaurant, Bar and Brasserie.
In keeping with the Japanese tradition of ‘shun’ – in which each ingredient is only harvested and enjoyed at their peak flavour – each cocktail heroes one of the botanicals to accentuate the character of the individual aromatic, offering an elegant beautifully balanced drink. Alongside the signature Roku Gin & Tonic – served over ice with six hand-cut matchsticks of fresh ginger – cocktails include Oriental Zest, made with yuzu liqueur, Peppered Garden made with grapefruit juice and cracked pepper, and Gyokuru Martinez made with matcha-tea infused Roku.
