One Direction were definitely the big winners at the Radio 1 Teen Awards on Sunday, taking the top three gongs.
The ex-X factor contestants won the awards for Best Single, Best Album and Best Music Act at the event, which was held at London’s Wembley Arena. The audience of screaming fan at the sheer mention of the fivesome, was a true testament to the fact that they most definitely on top at the moment.
The lads also performed on a floating plinth above the audience as they turned up to collect their awards.
The X Factor was voted Best British TV Show during the awards, which were chosen by Radio 1 listeners. Judge Tulisaturned up to collect the award, alongside her winning band from last year’s show, Little Mix with her to perform their single ‘Wings’.
Daniel Radcliffe was named ‘Best British Actor’ and his former Harry Potter co-star Emma Watson got the ‘Female Hottie’ Of The Year award.
Olympic diver Tom Daley took both the ‘Male Hottie’ Of The Year and ‘Best British Sports Star’ awards, while Paralympian Ellie Simmonds was named Inspirational Hero Of 2012.
There were three additional awards given to three inspirational teenagers, which were selected by a panel including Professor Green and Olympic gymnast (and Strictly Come Dancing contestant) Louis Smith.
