THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN 2
Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) loves nothing better than to swing between buildings fighting off those pesky criminals and spending time with the girl he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone). Unfortunate for him New Yorkers have come to rely on blue and red costumed crusader to fight off those villains that threaten their beloved city, even more so with the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), an enemy more powerful than he could ever be. That coupled with the return of the child faced best friend Harry Osborn (Dane Dehaan) or shall we say the Green Goblin, Peter soon realizes that the one thing all his enemies have in common is…. wait for it… OsCorp.
It does grate me how the bigwigs in Hollywood can take old classics and remake the hell out of them but with slightly different stories, however what with all the new fangled tools at their finger tips they sure know how to make these films graphically and visually pretty breathtaking. The story may just be a little weak but it’s full of action and to be honest I quite like the confident arrogant Peter Parker that Andrew Garfield has created as his own. One things for sure, I don’t think you guys will be bored.

Ivan Locke (Tom Hardy) is a devoted family man, taking pride at being the best he can be at home and dedicating his life to being the top of his game in the construction world. However, due to one simply phone call his whole world is about to come crashing down around him. On the eve of the biggest challenge of his professional career he receives the news that the women he stupidly slept with one drunken night is about to give birth to their child. Being a man of conscious he speeds off to support this women in her hour of need…
Tom Hardy lovers do not be blinded by his rugged handsomeness. Watching this god of a man, for nearly 2 hours, driving around in his car having conversation after conversation trying to sort his mess of a life out is not gripping stuff. The film maybe groundbreaking in its style and at times has this affect on you were you can’t stop watching, there just seems to be something missing.

THE LOVE PUNCH
Richard (Pierce Brosnan) and Kate (Emma Thompson) are happily divorced, but there biting banter suggests there is still a flame between the two that has not been fully extinguished. However the same cannot be said of their retirement nest egg which has completely vanished when Richards’s investment firm is defrauded. Learning that the scheming French financier behind the scheme has just bought his fiancé a $10Million diamond, the divorced couple put their differences aside and hatch up a plan to gate crash the wedding and steal the diamond.
This British Comedy is quite quaint, watching 4 people of a certain age trying to pull of the crime of the century is highly amusing, however this isn’t going to break any box office records. I’m a firm believer of supporting British Cinema. That coupled with some good comedic English actors in Thompson, Brosnan, Timothy Spall and Celia Imrie it good enough to fill a Sunday afternoon if you have nothing better to do, unfortunately though this film is aimed at those of a certain age so it most certainly isn’t for everyone.
