FIFTY SHADES OF GREY

A straight laced student, Anastasia (Dakota Johnson) goes to interview the extremely handsome, wealthy and charismatic Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), its attraction at first sight for them both. They soon embark on an extremely intense, passionate and toxic affair. Anastasia soon finds herself being very much controlled by Grey as he wants everything on his own terms. He soon introduces her to his dark world and kinky tastes, which makes her start to explore her own desires for the first time.

Fifty Shades of Grey is another book adaptation, but for the first time could actually be written better than the book. As well as being stylish it has humour and an intelligence about it which explores human behaviour on a more sexual level. It may not be quite as erotic as the book and just a little timid but it could certainly get you and your partner feeling a little frisky.

TWO NIGHT STAND

New Yorkers, Megan (Analeigh Tipton) and Alec (Miles Teller) hook up for a no-strings attached night of fun but when a paralyzing blizzard hits the city trapping them in Alec’s cramped Brooklyn apartment, they are forced to get to know each other far beyond the boundaries of a typical one-night stand.

This is supposed to look at the intimacy of relationships with some humour added in for good measure; in reality this is just your bog standard rom-com which, quite frankly, is a tired old storyline, a major yawn fest and should have gone straight to DVD. Way too predictable.

COHERENCE

Eight friends gather at a dinner party start to experience a troubling chain of reality bending events after a comet passes earth.

This is a part sci-fi part relationship film which will bend the mind, the character motivations are extremely strange but the acting from its cast is pretty integral to making this film watchable. It tries in places to be a horror but there is just too much dialogue to make it convincing as a horror. This film overall is just a bit weird.
