Merritt Patterson – Where have you seen her before?

Merritt Patterson is a twenty four year old, Canadian actress as well as a model and dancer. Merritt Patterson took a liking to the Arts at a young age. Patterson started dancing competitively at age 11 and continued to compete throughout her teen years.

During this time she was very much an active participant in the world of theatre, as well as still taking her modelling very seriously, going on to win the 2006 “Canadian Herbal Essences’ Teen Model Search” out of 10,000 girls. With so much success in her younger years, it has only grown with her but where have you seen her before?

She made her Film and Television debut with a recurring role on the ABC Family show Kyle XY. Kyle XY is an American science fiction television series. The central character is a teenage boy who awakens naked in a forest outside Seattle, Washington, with no more knowledge or abilities than a newborn. The series follows Kyle as he tries to solve the puzzles of who he is and why he has no memory before that day. The series was filmed in the Vancouver, British Columbia area, which is where Merritt was brought up as a child. Within the show, she plays a character by the name of Ashleigh Redmond.

A huge role of Merritt’s was the FOX 2000 feature film Percy Jackson: The Lighting Thief. She plays the part of one of the two ‘Pretty Girls’ who nurses Percy back to health and shortly after questions him on the basis of summer solstice.

The Hole is a 2009 American fantasy horror-thriller film directed by Joe Dante, in which Merritt plays the role as ‘Young Girl’ by the name of Jessica.

Merritt is now part of The Royals, the hit new television drama and takes on the role as Ophelia Pryce: Liam’s love interest and the daughter of head security. Alexandra takes on a very puzzling character as Ophelia, after a sexual encounter one night with the King of England, Liam Henstridge. The two began a relationship which the Queen strongly disapproved of, declaring Ophelia not fit for her son.
