Netflix recently added ‘You Me Her’ to its awesome catalogue of TV shows. ‘You Me Her’ stars Canadian actress Rachel Blanchard (Snake on a Plane, Road Trip, Peep Show) Priscilla Faia and Greg Poehler.
‘You Me Her’ is a tongue-in-cheek, yet compelling series about the complicated relationship of a married couple ‘Jack (Greg Poehler) and Emma Trakarsky (Rachel Blanchard)’ who seeks a third party ‘Izzy’ (Priscilla Faia) to spice up their sex life and life in general.
The synopsis reads,
To spice up their sex life, yuppie husband and wife Jack and Emma hire an escort. But things take an unexpected turn when romantic feelings surface.
The series looks at the complex realities of polyamory and “throupling” and the ways in which people view this type of relationship. It’s hard, its not for everyone, some people will high-five you, others will shun you and some with envy your bold attitude towards relationships.
Here’s 5 reasons to watch ‘You Me Her’ on Netflix
1. Going boldly where no-one has been before
‘You Me Her’ is some peoples fantasy, and others peoples reality, oh and some people’s nightmare. Addressing what its like to be in a three-way relationship while others around you look on in disgust or lust or a bit of both. It’s far more than just sex and the script albeit funny at times, actually tries to answer the questions every one is thinking, yet no-one dares to say out aloud.
2. It will make you laugh and cringe or both
‘Izzy’, played by Priscilla Faia is an escort that falls in love with a married couple that brought her in to spice up their life. During the series you will see how bland their life is without Izzy around and how they have to deal with the emotional stress of throupling. Izzy seams to be the perfect addition to their relationship, she has just enough sexiness and fire to add the spice needed without being too dominate to the married couples relationship. Trying to throuple isn’t easy and jealousy is something that will always be a topic of conversation.
3. Love, Sex and Threesomes
Although the series deals with a lot more than the sexual side of a three-way relationship, the group have an awesome threesome during episode six. It’s almost like having a sex toy for couples, which almost immediately dissipates to the reality of the whole situation, the morning after. Threesomes are awesome, however a full blown three-way relationship is a different story… What will the neighbour’s think?
The show is sexy, and at times silly, but its all part of the allure of the series. When Izzy and Emma start kissing, you may just gasp for a hot minute as it looks so passionate and so real. Rachel Blancard looks stunning in lingerie and so too does Priscilla Faia, yet the series doesn’t focus on trying to recreate the hottest sex scene ever… No instead it keeps it sexy, yet real and seductive. Just enough to keep you entertained without turning to a porn scene.
4. 10 Episodes in Series 1
‘You Me Her’ currently has 10 episodes in series 1. Each episode cover’s a different topic in the life of a throuple, from ‘No penetration’ conversations to ‘The Morning After’. Can they prove their best, truest, happiest lives really are together, even when it’s difficult and more conventional alternatives beckon?
5. The fantasy and the reality
Although the idea of a throuple is some peoples dream in life, the reality takes a different turn. Fear of everyone knowing is one thing, dealing with everyones emotions is another. If you were in a throuple, what would your friends think? What would you family think? How would your colleagues at work treat you? Would you all walk down the road holding hands??
So many questions and so many answers, go to Netflix now and watch it, you may like it, you may like it a lot. Who’s knows, it might even give you the courage to start your own throuple, because let’s face it, isn’t two better than one? or should I say, isn’t three better than two?
