South East Londons’ aka RéY, one of the UK’s upcoming Hip Hop artists, recently released his newest single Worldwide 2.0 on 5th November.
Worldwide 2.0 is a jazz-infused Hip Hop track with stylistic components influenced by many major talents in the genre, Kanye West, Jay Z and A Tribe Called Quest to name a few. aka RéY is shaping the new era of Hip Hop, pushing the boundaries by his use of live instrumentation
Firmly rooted in hip-hop, his music starts with a beatbox and then employs an eclectic range of instruments including horns, strings and harps which lends his idiosyncratic sound a “big band” aesthetic.
aka RéY excites us with this release after his previous music having already received positive credit. ‘We Run Together’, written about the popular London Relay charity world record attempt, was played on BBC Radio London ahead of the event.
Supporting the release of Worldwide 2.0, aka RéY showcased his work at the Prince of Peckham on Thursday 4th October with faces in the industry attending to get an early listen.
