70’s soul legends Kokomo are playing a show at the Boisdale club Canary Wharf on 8th April 2016.
The legendary 70s UK soul band reformed in 2014 and we’re proud to present this superb 10 piece on stage at Boisdale for the first time.
In 2015 Kokomo were invited to join the “Soul Summit” with old touring partners the Average White Band as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival, The show sold out the Royal Festival Hall and both bands received richly deserved standing ovations.
Kokomo’s original members have gone on to enjoy considerable success in their subsequent careers. Jim Mullen is now a much feted award-winning jazz guitarist, Neil Hubbard has recorded and toured with Joe Cocker’s Grease Band, Roxy Music, Robert Palmer, B.B. King, Buddy Guy and Bryan Ferry. Jody Linscott continues to work with everyone from Paul McCartney to Will Young, Mel Collins’ sax work has graced albums and gigs by Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones and King Crimson whilst Tony O’Malley has forged a successful solo career both here and in Europe.
The band will be introduced by BBC Radio’s Robert Elms. Robert launched the Boisdale Soul Fridays back in 2014 and he’s back tonight to present his all-time favourite soul band.
