5 interior design trends we predict for 2026

Interior design trends ebb and flow with years and seasons.

Social media is now more influential than ever, and new aesthetic movements guide the direction of trends in fashion, beauty and our homes.

The ‘clean-girl’ aesthetic ushers in elegant minimalism with neutral shades and simple textures. Meanwhile plant mums favour rich woods to house their sprawling indoor greenery, and for many maximalism still holds its place, with vibrant colours and patterns, layers and ornamentation.

The future direction of interior design will be heavily influenced by these aesthetic archetypes, and more – let’s explore five trends anticipated for 2026.

  1. Colour drenching

The practice of using a single colour for an entire room – including soft furnishings and textiles – is known as colour drenching.

Pantone recently unveiled Cloud Dancer as their colour of the year – described by them as “a lofty white that serves as a symbol of calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection.”

Reactions are mixed, with many planning to go bolder with jewel tones, earthy shades or warm russets. Whatever you choose, colour drenching is a beautiful way to bring cohesion into the room, matching curtains, blankets and cushions to bring the look together.

  1. Stone

From granite in the kitchen to stone paving in the garden, it’s a classic and timeless look that never goes out of style.

Stone doubles as an elegant exterior and a statement interior. Lovestone offers textured and sleek paving with ethically sourced stone in a range of colours for home and gardens.

  1. Sustainability

In an increasingly eco-conscious climate, vintage is in. Now more than ever consumers are looking to re-use preloved pieces. As well as awareness of over-consumption, buying pre-loved is often an affordable way to refresh your home.

Depending on your tastes, online marketplaces and in-person charity shops could be a great place to find your new furnishings. Vinterior has a diverse selection of vintage furnishings that add a touch of class to any room.

  1. Cosycore

Cosycore and cottagecore style aesthetics are not new trends, but they are ever-growing in popularity.

As we enter the year in cold climates, it makes perfect sense to lean in to warmth and homeliness.

The cosycore aesthetic is all about home comforts – think fluffy cushions, chunky knit blankets, side tables placed at the perfect distance to reach for your cup of coffee or glass of wine. Cuddle chairs and plush sofas won’t go amiss.

For a homebody who loves a cosy night in, this aesthetic is ideal for winter nights with a Christmas film and a hot chocolate. There’s no better way to set the scene.

  1. Artful clutter

While some may still be committed to the minimalist trend, maximalism is having its day in the sun.

This means more is more, and more consists of carefully chosen decorations such as stacks of coffee table books, vases and ornaments adorning surfaces, wall hangings.

The key is to have nothing look too organised or too messy. When the balance is right, this look exudes personality and charm.
