‘Starlight (Pickin’ Pears)’ is the first single to be released from Sydney based indie folk group The Campervan Dancers who are set the release their first 5-track self-titled EP later next year.
Fronted by husband-wife duo, Ryan & Chelsea Collings, the band was set up as they fell for each other. The pair soon got engaged, went on to marry and have been playing their sweet style of indie folk ever since. With a broad range of music influences, (including a substantial amount of RnB/rap) The Campervan Dancers are lovers of Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Frank Ocean, Local Natives and Fleetwood Mac.
“We’re not trying to make a big name for ourselves, that’s not our goal – we’re gonna keep making music, and trying to bring joy anyway we can to whoever is in our sphere of influence.” The Campervan Dancers
After being approached by recording engineer Ben Moore (Iggy Pop) The Campervan Dancers were then invited to record in a private space in Kangaroo Valley over 10 days. Written back in 2012, the track features samples of astronauts, YouTube cats, the sound of an actual star and many more. Backing vocals were added at a church in Balmain and at a church steeple in London in order to give a particular sound.
