Emerging Indie/Folk duo Darling has released an emotive, heartfelt debut EP ‘The Rise’.
Darling is bringing their highly infectious sound to the rest of the world with ‘The Rise,’ it’s a collection of sophisticated indie/folk songs which ooze musical prowess and signal an emotional maturity beyond the duos years.
With elements of jazz and pop, the EP celebrates the universal themes of love, loss, and confusion – turning pain into emotive anthems at every turn.
On the single, the duo said, “This EP is about the emotions and complications that you experience when you love someone. Misunderstandings, fights, breakups or even divorces, we sing about all of it. But there is always an underlying message of strength and personal growth,”
“The sound came authentically to both of us, and we just elaborated on both of our styles to create a raw, minimalistic sound with no gimmicks. We like when people ‘listen’ to our music, but we love when people ‘feel’ our music even more.”
Darling’s acclaimed singles ‘Until It Hurts’ and ‘Anywhere’ which also features on the EP was played on FBi radio and well received by tastemakers across the globe.
Consisting of Rudy and Seryna, Darling is the result of the pair’s shared vision of songwriting as a disciplined craft and a vehicle for honest storytelling that allows the listener to connect both to the artist’s experience and their own.
The two draw from influences as diverse as Corinne Bailey Rae, Passenger, John Mayer, Angus and Julia Stone and Sarah Bareilles to create music that’s undisguised and heartfelt. They blend beautiful harmonies and a raw acoustic sound sprinkled with subtle jazz and indie folk tones with emotive lyrics that connect to their listeners on a deep, visceral level.
