In anticipation of the launch of Activisons epic new first-person shooter ‘Destiny’ the National Space Centre has developed a sense of what the future of space travel could look like and how this could change some of the UKs best known cityscapes including London.
Destiny is a brand new videogame that is pushing boundaries in both gameplay development and artistic style. Many of the environments within the game are based on locations that already exist around the world such as the real-life Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan from which Sputnik 1, Earth’s first artificial satellite, was launched into space and was also the original site for the Russian Space program… in Destiny it was the launch site for the colony ships during the Golden Age.
However, Destiny is set in an age where space travel is no longer a novel dream and the Golden Age of Earth has already passed. All that is left is a desolate wasteland and on the last city on Earth, players can explore our solar system and get a taste for solar exploration!
