It’s not easy to get your big break in the film and creative industries but Samsung has partnered with award-winning actor and producer Idris Elba, Sunday Times cook Gizzi Erskine, singer-songwriter Paloma Faith and portrait and fashion photographer Rankin, to launch a talent-hunting initiative called Launching People that will seek to find and work with film, music, photography and food stars of the future.
The celebrities will act as mentors for the scheme which will give the chosen candidates an opportunity to get their brilliant ideas off the ground and the chance to work with one of the four mentors on a collaborative project. The process will also be documented for a television series that will air later this year.
Talking about the project award-winning actor and producer Idris Elba said: “I’m looking for someone that wants to tell a story and inspire others. They might have an idea that they’re not quite sure how to take to the next level. If I represent anything, it’s someone who dreamed big and achieved those dreams. If anyone out there has a similar aspiration, then I want to hear from them.”
The Emmy winning actor who recently gave a powerful performance playing Nelson Mandela in the biopic on his life has become one of the most wanted leading men in Hollywood. If you have a bright idea you could be working alongside this acting powerhouse.
To apply, entrants need to make a two-minute video pitch about their idea and upload it to www.LaunchingPeople.co.uk by 6 March.
