Flavour caught up with North West London singing sensation Hannah Rose, 24, to find out how this newcomer is going to stand out amongst the wealth UK singers that are achieving success.

How would you describe your sound?
Rock and soul and a little bit of skank.

What kind of tracks can we expect on your album?
Both up and down tempo but always with that little bit of Hannah-Rose cheekiness in there.

Have you also wanted to be a music artist?
When I was 3 years old I started dancing, singing and acting but with my Dad being in a band there was always musicians in the house and staying over and I was just fascinated by the whole process of making music. I used to love watching the band rehearse and would watch, listen and learn for hours and then would watch my dad and the rest of the band at our small home studio. I recorded and arranged my first backing vocals when I was 6 and my passion for performing in general continued from there. It was the whole creative side of music that started to feed my hunger and does to this day to be able to create something then go and perform it…you can’t beat that feeling in my eyes.

Tell me about your journey how did you get to your current position?
We always had a very busy home which I loved. Some of my earliest memories are stepping over band members and groupies who crashed over in the front room getting my school books (laughs). It was just a natural progression really I carried on performing but it wasn’t satisfying my passion so when I was 12yrs I started writing my own material and performing. That’s when I realised where my heart was. I didn’t want to just be a singer like I wanted to be an artist and have the freedom to create and express and for no-one but myself but then its a bonus if others enjoy and appreciate what I’m doing and saying.

You’re with Charles Gordan Management. What’s the difference being managed by this company instead of say a major label?
I’ve got to say the biggest difference is creative control. I’m not in this game to be a puppet I want to do my thing and Charles saw this and respected it. Obviously he guides me if I’m going off on one but I don’t want people who work with me to be like ‘Yeah you’re great but you should be doing this because this is what’s happening right now’. I want them to believe in me and what I do. I’ve had a lot of offers from big management companies but knew instantly I was gonna go with Charles as we had the same vision and I knew he truly believed in me and what I do and to have just one person who does that makes me feel blessed.

With the likes of Amy Whinehouse and Adele and Estelle doing well as young female solo artists where do you see yourself positioned? What will make you stand out?
Them girls are doing there own thing and I respect them for waving the flag for the female talent in the UK, I find each one of them and inspiration but they do them and I do me.

What do you love most about what you do?
I love gigging the most and not just the performance side of it but putting the whole live shows together as that’s like the prize for all the hard work and writing that’s been done to get to that point to finally see it come together!

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
There’s been too many to mention. Probably going to number 1 in 15 different countries but not my bloody own yet so that’s next OK folks and I want it to be the album as well not just single!

What motivates you?
My mum, my past and my future.

What 5 songs a you listening to on your I-pod at the moment?
1.Stevie Wonder – Superstition
2. UB40 – Red Red Wine
3. Bob Marley – Don’t Rock my Boat.
4- Janis Joplin – Mercedes Benz.
5. Rather go Blind.

Image is important in this industry what do you think is your best feature and why?
I never know what to say with these kind of questions. I hope it’s my cheekiness that shines through but failing that ‘ my great rack (laughs).

When will a single or album be released?
Single Feb 09! Self-penned debut album April 09!

What does the future hold for Hannah Rose?
Hopefully happiness, success, health and lots of naughtiness (laughs).
