Garage Classical at Barbican Hall with DJ Spoony – 21st July 2018

GC Barbican

Garage Classical at Barbican Hall promises to be a night of classic garage hits as you’ve never heard them before!

Godfather of UK garage, DJ Spoony, has curated a night every garage lover can’t afford to miss: the genre’s biggest hits performed live by the 36 piece Ignition Orchestra.

Alongside composer and conductor Katie Chatburn, Spoony has brought together a selection of favourites from the Garage era, with Chatburn arranging them for string ensemble. There’s ‘Do You Really Like It?’, ‘Please Don’t Turn Me On’, ‘The Things We Do For Love’, ‘Call It Fate’, ‘Sincere’, ‘Crazy Love’, and many more – with the original vocalists performing alongside the 36-piece orchestra to perform the hits.

Doors 7.30pm, Saturday 21st July 2018, Barbican Hall

The first Garage Classical night was premiered in 2017 at LIMF and since selling out The Barbican, the event will now be returning just ahead of Christmas at Hammersmith’s Eventim Apollo on 14th December.

Spoony is widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of UK Garage. He started Djing professionally in 1997 and has worked all over the world including Miami, Dubai and South Africa and has worked for Apple, Nike and Selfridges to name a few. He has also carved out a very successful broadcasting and entertainment career from hosting the Weekend Breakfast show on Radio One and a presenter on the Premier League Channel to winning a Mastermind special. As a member of the Dreem Teem he had huge national chart success with ‘The Theme’ and their biggest hit, a collaboration with Neneh Cherry ‘Buddy X’.
