Dick Pics, One-Night Stands & Fuckboys – Why dating apps are not to blame for you being single

After joining a few dating apps, I have noticed a huge divide between the male profiles and the female profiles.

I heard many of my friends say that dating apps are rubbish and that they do not work and this lead to me checking them out for myself.

Yes, I am a single guy (now), but I had never used a dating app in the past. I’d personally much rather meet someone in person, say at a bar or club or even better an event such wedding or christening…

So why don’t dating apps work?

Well, my simple answer to this question is… Dating apps do work, it’s the people on the dating apps that do not work.

Now before I continue, I must state that I have not undertaken any qualitative or quantitative research in order to quantify my statements. My statements are simply based on what I have seen, and from my own perspective.

Let’s take a look at the divide and more so the differences between the male profile and the female profiles…

I have noticed a couple of trends and wondered how many times do women have to clearly state on their profile, that they are “NOT LOOKING FOR A FUCKBOY OR A ONE-NIGHT STAND”? also if you simply browse a handful of female profiles you will probably come across another trend saying “NO DICK PICS PLEASE”.

So are the majority of women on dating apps looking for relationships and the majority of men looking for a quick fling or one-night stand? That’s a question that YOU the user may be able to answer easily.

There’s also another trend that I have noticed on datings apps. This trend is slightly harder to noticed but once I mention it, you’ll possibly agree. This is the trend of CHATTING vs MEETING UP.

If dating apps are there to help you find someone, then, why are there so many people on dating apps that only want to CHAT? It kinda defeats the objective… right? Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with wanting to chat only, but what’s the point of only wanting to chat when you’re on a dating app for singles?

Dating Apps the Candy Crush for adults

Another trend that I have spotted is the use of dating apps and the way people use it. It’s almost beginning to feel like a game of Candy Crush for adults and the prize being ‘YOU’VE MATCHED’.  Take a look at any person that has been on a dating app for longer than a few weeks and watch the way they swipe left and right. The speed in which they can do this is phenomenal. Muscle memory gives the users of dating apps lighting fast left and right swiping, with the odd ‘Go to Profile Mode‘ where they actually look at more photos of the person and then read their bio.

If they spent the same amount of time practising to play the guitar or piano, they would probably pick it up in no time whatsoever lol…

So, what can be done to counter this?

All of the above got me thinking, what can be done to counter this. Maybe there’s room in the marketing for a few more apps… How about the following?

SinglesChat – The app for singles that want to chat but don’t want to meet…

Or maybe (if you allow me to be crude lol)

VagDickSwop – The app for singles that want to swop unsolicited Vagina and Dick pics for no apparent reason…

Or even…

FuckBoyChat – The app for single women looking for the perfect fuckboy with no strings attached…

Ok, I can imagine the last one being a nightmare for women and some men… Some women would probably end up writing something like this on their profile ‘just because I’ve matched you,  doesn’t mean I want to fuck you. We have to talk and chat and get to know each other a little bit first’…

With that I mind, any app developers reading this article, please get in touch, we could create a new app for the market and become the biggest mediocre app of all time lol.

Fun and jokes aside. It seems like men want one thing and women want the complete opposite… Even with women having more free speech, you’ll probably have to go through a few thousand left swipes to find a female profile that says ‘Looking for SEX and nothing else‘… And hence, it’s not the fault of the dating app but the fault of the people using the dating app.

Ladies and gentlemen, please feel free to comment, like and share this post. If enough people comment, we may even find some common ground between men and women and dating apps.
