Yesterday Flavour headed down to get all the backstage and performance gossip from the Capital FM Summer Ball at Wembley. With There ridiculously hot headliners including Usher, JLS, Cheryl Cole, Rihanna and Tinie Tempah this was guaranteed to be an event not to be missed.
Usher kicked off the action performing hits like Caught Up. He stepped things up a notch when he brought Justin Beiber and surprise guest Will.i.am on stage for the final verse of OMG! The crowd went crazy when Beiber and the BEP frontman joined in. Before he went on stage, Usher confirmed he was single and loved British babes but before any of you single ladies get excited he has already jetted off to New York- he had a performance there just a few hours later! Ushers hot set definitely set the bar for the night but following acts didn’t disappoint. Cheryl Cole sang a trio of hits from her album 3words (she mimed but to be fair she was dancing a lot). She also covered Owl City’s Fireflys, giving the original a run for its money.
Chipmunk performed his hit single Until You Were Gone with another surprise guest Esmee Denters. Speaking before they went on stage Esmee revealed that she hooked up with Chipmunk after he tweeted about how wicked a performer she was. The power of twitter strikes again! Best surprise guest on the night had to be Florence Welch who joined Dizzee Rascal on stage to perform the Dirtee Cash/ You’ve Got The Love mash up.
My heart went out to Jason Derulo who tried and failed to take his jacket off on stage during his performance of Watcha Say. Backstage he told us that he was looking for a girlfriend and that she needed to have a big heart “I mean look at what just happened to me on stage. I need a girl I can share stuff like that with!”
Not struggling to remove their clothes were the JLS boys. Ortise revealed the secret to removing shirts “You need Marvin’s arms he never struggles!” He has a point, Marvin is looking seriously defined! The boys looked stylish as ever, having strayed away from their JLS co-ordinated coloured image from the X Factor days. They all rocked black. Will the colours make a come back anytime soon? “You never know, we might bring that look back!” said Aston.
Speaking of clothes Alexandra Burke was looking very Gaga-esque on stage. She wore a nude and black leotard with metal plating around the shoulders and a very fashion forward hairstyle. After performing Bad Boys and latest single All Night she ran backstage energetic as ever “Have you seen Jason Derulo!” she squealed “He is so hot, I would love to date him! I’ve invited him out tonight, so watch this space!”
The night ended on a high with the baddest Bajan chick on the block Rihanna hitting the audience with Rude Boy and Umbrella. When she performed everybody got on their feet!!
