Ratingen, 20 January 2010. Lifestyle brand Esprit would like to express its heartfelt sympathy to the all the people of Haiti, in particular the families and children, who have been affected by the earthquake.
To offer immediate financial support, Esprit will host an international fundraising campaign on Saturday 23 January 2010 in Esprit retail stores. For each purchase made, Esprit will donate one euro to the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
The total amount raised will go to SOS Children’s Villages Haiti via the “Esprit Cares Trust” in Hong Kong. This will enable Esprit to assist aid workers on the ground, as well as ensure the long-term well-being of children in Haiti. Providing psychological help to children who may have been traumatised or orphaned is of particular importance, as is providing them with safe accommodation and searching for any remaining relatives.
Esprit can look back on four decades’ worth of commitment to social and community issues focusing primarily on children and teenagers. SOS Children’s Villages has been an important partner for Esprit for many years. In 2008, this close partnership reached a new level with the construction of an SOS Children’s Village in Alibaug, located south of Mumbai in India. The construction and maintenance of this village is financed solely by Esprit. As a brand whose products stand for quality and sustainability, Esprit places great importance on its long-term humanitarian commitment.
