CONVERSE UNVEILS BOLD NEW SNEAKER COLLECTION WITH RAPPER WIZ KHALIFA

Converse has released the Fall 2013 Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Wiz Khalifa collection featuring 12 new styles inspired by the artist’s rebellious and fashion-forward style. The collaboration marks Khalifa’s first footwear collection and celebrates the artist’s eye for bold detail and subtle luxury. The new collection incorporates several unique accents including the Wiz Khalifa collection signature logo tab on each design, while staying true to the iconic Chuck Taylor All Star silhouette.

Rapper Wiz Khalifa who shot to global fame with his hit anthem ‘Black and Yellow’ has cemented himself amongst hip hops most promising young artists whilst making headlines away from the microphone by dating model Amber Rose.  Khalifa’s use of the word “Taylor” hails from the high school that he attended, which, coincidentally, is where his long-time affinity for Converse Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers began.

”I’ve always gravitated toward Converse because of how solid the brand is. It’s clean and it’s classic,” said Wiz Khalifa. “I was excited to collaborate with the team at Converse because I felt they really got my individual style and vision. The sneakers in my collection are dope and I’m excited to share them with my fans”

I got my hands on the Blue/White colour-way which stand out as soon as you take them out of the box. They benefit from the traditional Chuck Taylor comfort and style whilst possessing an interior leopard skin style pattern on the fabric. These versatile sneakers look great with most outfits but I particularly like them with rolled up skinny jeans or a smart pair of shorts.  Rapper and sneaker collaborations often fail as the artists’ need to express their uber-creativity tend to overpower the end result (see Tyga’s T-Raw collection) but Wiz and Converse seem to have reached a happy medium!
