Coldplay use Instagram to release samples from their new album

Following the performance of their new single at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, Coldplay have taken to Instagram this afternoon (@Coldplay) to exclusively tease 15 second clips of tracks from their upcoming album, A Head Full Of Dreams.

From 12pm (GMT), the band are sharing a post of each new track from the album, in sequence and at hourly intervals, on their Instagram feed. The first track teased is the album’s headline track ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’. The band also posted an Instagram image of the album cover, revealing the track order and listing this morning.

Coldplay join both established and emerging music artists, who are using Instagram to share new material and connect directly with their fans. Rihanna (@badgalriri), Lana Del Rey (@honeymoon), Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) and Muse @muse have all teased new music on Instagram this year, while Adele (@adele) took to Instagram to preview her new album artwork.

Music is alive and thriving on Instagram. One in four of the most popular accounts on Instagram are from musicians, while those ‘behind the music’, such as audio engineer Young Guru (@youngguru763) and renowned music photographer Danny Clinch (@dannybones64), also using Instagram to share their passion for music. As a result, over the last five years, the community have been using Instagram to not only connect with artists they love, but experience behind-the-scenes music moments as they happen.
