We were all taken aback with the news that Jennifer Lopez had separated from husband, Marc Anthony, after 7 years and the birth of their twins back in 2008. The couple were the picture of happiness, but who knows what really goes on behind closed doors…
It begs the question that if they can’t survive, what hope is there for the rest of us? Here are few very well known couples and how we think their relationships will pan out:
Who: Beyonce & Jay-Z
When: The couple had began dating low-key since as early as 2002 and wed in a private ceremony in NY in April 2008.
The pair are lucky, in that as powerful and inspirational as they are together, they have managed to keep their relationship out of the private eye and aside from a few paparazzi pictures now and again, there is nothing we really know about their relationship. Unlike other couples who may struggle to keep their marriage alive with such hectic and conflicting schedules, these two manage to make it work and during her recent break from music, Beyonce accompanied Jay-Z through his worldwide tour and was spotted cheering him on each time he performed.
Although we may be appearing a little optimistic, given the regular cycle of celeb marriages, we genuinely believe that the pair have a wise pair of heads on their shoulders and the lack of media intrusion into their private lives, should prove a reason as to why their marriage will last for years to come.
Who: Lewis Hamilton & Nicole Scherzinger
When: The F1 champion and the former Pussycat Doll began dating in 2008 after reportedly hitting it off at a party. The pair separated briefly at the end of 2009 but got back together a few months later and haven’t looked back since. The relationship raised concern from many as Scherzinger is eight years older than her boyfriend although it doesn’t seem to have affected them so much.
Apart from the frequent ‘engagement’ rumours the couple aren’t so much discussed in the press and both always seem to be on the other side of the world from each other although they do seem to make it work but will find it even more hectic now thanks to Scherzingers X Factor judging role. Whilst we wish them the best, we cannot help but see this one ending in tears…
Who: Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz
When: The dynamic pair started courting in 2008 before a lavish wedding on the Island of Corscia in August 2010 and the pair are now proud parents to now nine-month old baby boy Egypt.
On paper, Alicia Keys and Swizz seem like the perfect couple, both internationally successful and highly respected musicians but it’s the baggage that was brought into the relationship that is worrying. When Swizz began dating Keys many years ago he was reportedly still with is then wife Mashonda Loyal, whom he has a daughter from. Cries of ‘home wrecker’ began as Loyal played the innocent party in the situation and critically spoke out on the two, however the pair impressively managed to conquer the initial adversity.
Whilst their relationship stands strong and happy, given Swizz’s track record with women, we hope that Miss Keys keeps her wits about her. It will be interesting to watch this union develop…
Who: Fergie & Josh Duhamel
When: The Black Eyed Peas singer hooked up with Transformers
star in 2004 and the pair have been married since 2009.
The pair got together after hunky Duhamel admitted his crush on Fergie in an interview with Instyle Magazine and clearly it was reciprocated as they have been inseperable ever since. Unlike the couples mentioned above, Fergie Ferg is undoubtedly the bigger of the two and has helped elevate her husband’s career; we wonder how he feels about that? They haven’t escaped the clutches of the media as allegations of Duhamel cheating have poured into the US tabloids, all of which have been strenuously denied.
This pairing to us are more of a ‘normal’ couple than a celebrity one, they have had their lows but equally their highs and are clearly madly in love, with Duhamel even posting loving messages on Fergie’s fanbook page. So with The Black Eyed Peas’s break coming up, we only envisage the relationship going from strength to strength, with the possibility of children on the horizon perhaps…aww.
Who knows what the future will really hold for these couples but one thing for sure is, we’ll be keeping a close eye…
