Based on the novel by the King of horror himself, Stephen King, and a remake of the classic 1976 horror, Carrie is brought back to life in this revamped and modernised version starring actress of the moment Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass) as Carrie and Academy Award Nominee, Julianne Moore (Crazy, Stupid, Love) as her obsessively religious mother. Carrie is a lonely teen with special powers, relentlessly bullied at school and physically abused by her mother at home. The final straw comes when her tormentors pull a nasty prank on her at prom, which can only mean one thing, a deadly lesson learned with horrific consequences.
With all the advances in special effects and CGI since the release of the original in 1976 we are guaranteed a visual and more believable feast to absorb, but do we really need another tired remake of a classic? Or will we be pleasantly surprised with this take of Carrie? Originally due for release in March, Carrie has now been pushed back to a November release, just in time for Halloween.
