This year’s BET awards will take place on July 1 in L.A and will be hosted by Samuel L Jackson.
The nominations were announced in N.Y.C and we imagine Kanye must be very happy, as he leads the pack this year with 7 nominations. Beyonce follows close with 6, whilst ‘Ye’s friend and Bey’s husband is right behind them with 5 nods.
So far, Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown are both due to perform, with Nicki being up for ‘Best Female Hip-Hop Artist’ and Chris receiving 2 of his own nominations.
The ‘Best International UK Acts’ were strong, but were missing a certain Tinie Tempah. However, his buddy Labrinth was nominated, alongside Estelle, Emeli Sandé, Sway and Wretch 32.
The ‘Best Female R&B Artist’ category features Marsha Ambrosius, Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Melanie Fiona and Rihanna. Surprisingly, this is the only nomination Rih received.
The male’s are all amazing in their own right, so it will definitely be a close call. Consisting of Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Miguel, Trey Songz and Usher, I reckon Usher may be the one to bag the award.
Kanye West’s and Jay-Z’s ‘Watch The Throne’ album is up for 5 awards, including ‘Video Of The Year’ for ‘Otis’ and ‘N****z In Paris’, ‘Best Group’ and ‘Best Collaboration’.
Young Money also got some love as Drake and Weezy both feature in the ‘Best Male Hip-Hop Artist’ category and ‘Best Collaboration’ for ‘The Motto’ and ‘I’m On One.’
Group Maze featuring Frankie Beverly will receive the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ on the night.
