NEWSFLASH: BET Awards 2016 Announces ‘Best International Act: UK’ Nominees including Kano, Krept & Konan, Lianne La Havas, Skepta, Stomzy & Tinie Tempah.
For the first time ever, an exciting new element has been added to the International voting process which means fans will be able to have their say on who they want to win by casting their vote at http://www.bet.com/shows/
With this year’s broadcast marking the 16 years of spectacular performances, must-see moments, outstanding talent, and exquisite music: from Alicia Keys performing during the Prince Lifetime Achievement Award tribute to Michael Jackson taking the stage with James Brown and the reuniting of The Fugees, the “BET Awards” has set the standard for can’t miss specials.
Fan votes will be combined with the ballots from the official BET Awards voting academy to select the BET Awards 2016, Best International Act: UK, winner. Reading like a who’s who in the world of entertainment, the voting panel comprises of UK industry experts from the worlds of television, film, music, social media, digital marketing, public relations and creative arts.
The winning British artist will collect their award at the star-studded BET Awards 2016, to be held on 28 June at the Microsoft Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles. The UK premiere will air onTuesday 28 June at 9pm on BET (SKY 187 / VIRGIN 184 / FREESAT 140).
Other UK nominees in the running to take home an award include Adele who is up for ‘Best Female R&B/Pop Artist’ and Idris Elba nominated in the ‘Best Actor’ category.
Drake leads the list of US entertainers with an impressive nine nominations including ‘Best Male Hip Hop Artist,’ ‘Video of Year,’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ for his hit “Where Ya At” with fellow hip hop artist Future. Beyoncé and Rihanna follow with five nods each. Beyoncé is nominated for top nods of the night including ‘Best Female R&B/Pop Artist,’ ‘Video of the Year,’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ for “Feeling Myself” with Nicki Minaj. Rihanna is in the running for awards including ‘Best Female R&B/Pop Artist,’ ‘Video of the Year,’ and ‘Best Collaboration,’ for “Work” featuring Drake. Other nominees include newcomer Bryson Tiller who is up for four awards including ‘Best Male R&B/Pop Artist.’Chris Brown is nominated for the same number including ‘Best Male R&B/Pop Artist and ‘Video Director of the Year.
