She’s a singer-songwriter, a rising style icon, and a pop star… but she’s only just getting warmed up. 18-year-old A*M*E isn’t wasting any time capitalizing on her quest for world domination.
Despite being signed by Gary Barlow to his former record label, and landing a number one in South Korea, the singer on the edge of a highly successful career is a very down-to-earth girl: “I don’t consider myself famous. I am just a normal kid.”
We shouldn’t take too lightly, A*M*E’s ability and what she can do as an artist. In fact, she has been tipped to land her UK debut No.1 this weekend with ‘Need U (100%)’ alongside Duke Dumont.
Sure, when you’re hailed as a rising star by Gary Barlow, and getting a shout-out from JLS member Marvin Humes, life is good. A*M*E who promises to make “fun pop music, nothing too heavy, tragic, sad or anything like that,” has already announced plans to release an album. As for the talk among music fans, her brand of infectious, 90’s inspired, quirky pop has already lodged her steadily on the radar for 2013.
Following her performance at vInspired’s National Awards, Noel Phillips caught up with A*M*E to talk everything from meeting her mentor, Gary Barlow, to her noticeable surge in male admirers and wanting to spend a day as Grace Jones.
She is tipped for the top. But don’t take our word for it, give her latest single, ‘Need U (100%)’ featuring Duke Dumont, a listen and see for yourself…
