Taking influence from the likes of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, songstress Afro Miziiki delivers an array of composite and invigorating tracks on her newest album release FGM.
After graduating in 2009 Dar Es Salaam resident and Afro Fusion vocalist Afro Miziiki decided to pursue a career in music. This decision was accompanied with success as shortly after, Miziiki both participated and won a well established Bongo Star performance Award. In the coming years, Miziiki Attained a position as a lead vocalist for a Tanzanian band before signing a contract that brought Afro Miziiki to Europe.
Inspired by her love for a vast array of world music and driven by a want to address some of life’s more universally elusive questions FGM strays from the overstated narrative of love and focuses on captivating subjects. Filled with sultry vocal lines, stimulating lyrics and the superlative production work of Elisha Haonga, Afro Miziiki has the solid backing required to establish a well-received album.
Miziiki has signed to Uk based independent label Sustainable records, who focus on the idea of originality rather than a consumer-driven strategy. This transposes well into FGM and the sincerity allows for authenticity. Working with a team behind her who accommodate a wide range of stylistic approaches and genres, allows Afro Miziiki to approach her music in a far more versatile manner than most. And with a particular focus on live performance, urban guerilla skills and both marketing and sales, Sustainable Records provide a very solid foundation for a Miziiki’s music career.
FGM will be available across a number of platforms from the 20th of July onward. You can also follow and keep up to date with both Afro Miziiki and the team at Sustainable Records via social media platforms.
