The Limelight Film awards is only a week away, taking place on Monday the 15th of June in East London, the Limelight Film Awards is the largest independent short film awards attended by 500 film makers, personalities and industry professionals.
Each year new and emerging film talents are recognised and celebrated through the awards and one of which is awarded the ‘Film of the Night Award,’ a £10,000 production voucher, providing the winner with high-end film making facilities for their next project.
There are various award categories, including Drama, Comedy, Documentary, with four film nominations per category. The red carpet event is also fused with live performances from emerging and celebrated artists, followed by an after party. Previous guests and attendees include Femi (Team Kylie Minogue, The Voice), Silvio Simac (Hollywood actor – Transporter 3, Unleashed), Martin Gooch (Harry Potter, Judge Dredd), Sunny and Shay (BBC London), Shaun Williamson (Eastenders, BBC), Ace Bhatti (Eastenders, BBC). Nadeem Leigh (The Voice UK), Konnie Huq (Blue Peter, Xtra Factor), alongside film producers and financiers.
The Limelight Film Awards has identified many new film talents to since 2008 who have progressed to producing feature films, programmes and new production companies. “Limelight is unique in providing that much needed platform for new and emerging film makers. Running since 2008, our programme demonstrates the need of the awards and the abundant of talent out there,” says Founder and CEO Munsur Ali, a film maker himself.
