5 reasons why Jennifer Lawrence is the best.

Jennifer Lawrence (or J-Law as she’s known to fans) is quite possibly the hottest talent on the planet right now.  At just 22 years old, she’s already won numerous Best Actress awards and starred in some incredibly high-profile films, even being named in Time Magazine’s list of the top 100 most influential people in the world.  But what is it that makes her such an inspiration?

Here’s our five reasons why Jennifer Lawrence is the best.

1. Acting talent.

First and foremost, Lawrence is renowned for her acting ability – though it may surprise you to hear she’s never taken an acting lesson in her life.  That’s right, her career is built on pure natural talent.

Her breakthrough came in 2010 with her leading role in Debra Granik’s Oscar nominated Winter’s Bone.  The film is a raw and bleak picture of rural America, which led to Lawrence’s first Best Actress Oscar nomination at just 19.

Since then, Lawrence has gone on to feature in X-Men: First Class, the hugely popular The Hunger Games and, of course, her Oscar winning performance in Silver Linings Playbook amongst others.  The list of awards and nominations is so large, in fact, it has its own Wikipedia page.  Her Oscar win is an obvious high point in a thoroughly impressive career, leading not only to her infamous “I beat Meryl” quip, but that graceful fall on the stairs.

2. Strong female characters

In a recent interview with The Sun, Lawrence noted how tough the movie industry can be for young women:

“It’s hard for a young woman because typically the roles you’re offered are beautiful and bitchy, ugly and nice or pretty and stupid. I’ve been lucky to stay away from that”

Most of her roles have been strong females: from Ree Dolly in Winter’s Bone acting as parental guardian to her younger siblings, to the sensual Mystique in X-Men: First Class, the strong-willed (if fragile) Tiffany in Silver Linings Playbook and the determined Katniss in The Hunger Games.  For the latter, not only did she become the highest-grossing action heroine of all time, but she more than lived up to the image that fans of the novel were anticipating.  In the process, she’s become an inspiration to teenagers across the globe.

3. She’s just like us.

It’s not every day you get to go to the Oscars.  On the face of it, Lawrence was a picture of grace and beauty, posing for the cameras and oozing cool as she hung out with her Hollywood pals.

And then with one man it all fell apart: Jack Nicholson.

Still, she fared better than most of us, who would probably be on the floor in a crumpled heap after meeting Hollywood royalty.  Even in the most nerve-wracking of moments, Lawrence remains honest and sincere – a young woman thrust into the spotlight who we can all relate to.  Then again, maybe it was just the Dutch courage beforehand…

4. She looks hot as a blue mutant

I mean, how many other actresses could pull off this look?  (Zoe Saldana aside – her performance in Avatar was mainly motion-capture).

5. She’s not afraid to laugh at herself

As well as being incredibly attractive, Lawrence has the quirky and cool personality to go with it.

Back in January she hosted Saturday Night Live in the US, filled with self-deprecating humour.

When she’s not poking fun at herself, she’ll probably be poking fun at her cast-mates:

And when Seth McFarlane included her in his ‘We Saw Your Boobs’ song at the Oscars, she was one of the few actresses to actually play along.
