Are you a student, graduate or even making your very first steps into fashion design? Then this multicultural showcase will give you the chance to exploit your talent.
With over twenty innovative young designers showcasing their collections, the Young Designer Show is a show of inspiration, motivation and networking which aims to spotlight exceptionally gifted young fashion designers – some of them as young as 13 years up to 25 years and beyond.
Hosted by Annaliese Dayes (from Britain’s next top model) and W.Livingston Gilchrist (Playvybz’s Radio Presenter), the show will take place on Saturday 17th July 2010 from 6pm – 9pm at the Cockpit Theatre Gateforth Street, London, NW8 8EH.
This uplifting showcase features some of fashion’s hottest new faces. The Young Designer Show includes collection awards winning young designers who took part in the prestigious 2009 Fashion Designers and Craft makers (FDC) Young Designer Awards.
The Young Designer Show was established by knitwear designer Joanna Marcella her vision is to produce a platform for multicultural designers that contributes to the pursuit of tomorrow’s fashion stars.
Speaking passionately about her vision for the future Joanna Marcella mentioned that “The visionary and inspirational designers: Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix, John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld, Louis Vuitton and Yves Saint Laurent are some of the fashion icons that our young designers have chosen as their inspiration. Our vision is to see the day when our young designers are as well known as the fashion leaders we know today.”
This dazzling show will feature designers Makeda Getachew, Nell Nourel, Cherrelle Strachan, Laura Moore, Ivy Ansah, Magma Keni, Kanyinsola Onalaja, Leanda Boatswain, Charlene Amankwah, Gbemisola Okunlola, Adrine Avakyan, Huyen Thu Bui, Rachael Otto, Linda Cobbina, Elisa Flore, Gabriele Bernotaite, Ruweyda Dool, Shanice Bryce, April Griffiths, Leonie Porter and Omotoyosi Mobereola.
Joanna Marcella continues, “This event is the only platform in the UK that has given several extremely young fashion designers, who are still studying for their fashion degrees, an opportunity to showcase in New York Fashion Week and Caribbean Fashion Week. To an audience of international Buyers, Fashion Editors, Press and Celebrities and work with a team of prominent fashion stylists, hair, make-up artists backstage, and the same international models that walk the runway for the noted fashion houses such as Baby Phat, Calvin Klein, Donna Karen, Marc Jacobs, Luella Bartley and Tommy Hilfiger.”
